Spectator Policy

Dear Morgan Families:

As the fall 2020 athletic season begins, we are extremely excited to be able to hold athletic events for our student-athletes. However, we are faced with new challenges as it relates to the COVID-19 pandemic. The Morgan administrative team, along with Superintendent O’Donnell, recognize the importance of family support at our student-athletes’ contests. While we must adjust our normal procedures for welcoming fans to our campus, our goals remain unchanged: we will continue to offer a safe environment for our students, coaches, spectators, officials, game personnel, and community members.

The following spectator guidelines for our fall sporting events have been collaboratively developed and adopted by member districts of the Shoreline Conference. All determinations related to spectators have been informed by guidelines set forth by the State of Connecticut, CIAC, local and state health departments, Shoreline Principals’ Association, Shoreline Athletic Directors, and superintendents. Please know, the health and safety of our students, staff and community members was our top priority as we developed our spectator protocols. We will continue to track health metrics and collaborate with local and state officials to provide a safe experience for all. Thank you for your understanding and careful adherence to the Morgan sporting event (JV and Varsity) requirements outlined below:

For Outdoor Activities (Soccer, Cross Country, Field Hockey, Football, Cheer)

  •  Two family members from each athlete’s family may attend HOME events, in which their child is participating. Away team fans may not attend Morgan events. Likewise, Morgan fans are not permitted to attend away events
  • All fans must be on the guest list to the specific contest they are attending, so as to assist with contact tracing, if the need should arise. Coaches will submit the list to the Athletic Department prior to the event
  • Masks must be worn properly (covering the nose and mouth) by spectators at all times
  • Each family is expected to maintain a safe distance of 6 feet or more from other families and/or individuals who do not live in the same household
  • Family members may not approach the team or coaches at any time. At the conclusion of the contest, spectators are asked to leave the facility
  • Family members are expected to follow the CIAC Class Act spectator guidelines and exhibit good sportsmanship
  • No pets are allowed at Morgan events

If any issues arise while at a game, please find the nearest staff member as in any non-pandemic season

For Indoor Activities (Volleyball)

Based on health department recommendations, NO spectators will be permitted to attend indoor events.

The Morgan administration welcomes our fans as important “team members” at games and competitions. In order to keep our fans at events, these procedures must be followed. Please help us to keep our fans cheering our athletes on -- go Huskies!

Thank you,
Keri Hagness, Principal
Chris Luther, Assistant Principal
Lewis Pappariella, Director of Athletics

Note: Morgan is working with the Technology Department to develop a system to livestream and/or post game footage of some events. Morgan Athletics is working to develop a senior night schedule. More information will be released when available.
